Radisson Blu Anchorage Hotel (Lagos Nigeria)

I have spent much time in Lagos, Nigeria for business. Due to the security restrictions, I was required to remain in the Radisson Blu Hotel complex most of the time. Hence I thought it is worthwhile to note my dining experience there.

After ordering from the same menu for more than 40 times, I thank the grouper fillet with curry and rice as well as the perennial hotel favourite Club Sandwich for keeping me going. I am not a fan of the traditional Nigerian fare – most dishes consist of intense heat from black peppers with no aromatics.

Kisuke Japanese (Willoughby Sydney)

We went to Kisuke at Willoughby for a casual Japanese meal on a Friday night. The open air restaurant is fantastic for Australian summer, especially when the breeze was coming in.

Make sure you try the chef special 10 nigiri sushi set for the day, with creative combinations of fish and sauces. For a bit of fun you can also try the wagyu beef with a cook-it-yourself hot stone grill. Overall it is a great local eatery but slightly pricey.

The Boathouse on Blackwattle Bay (Sydney)

To celebrate the holidays, we visited The Boathouse on Blackwattle Bay on Christmas Eve. We were seated at the corner overlooking the Anzac Bridge which was a fantastic setting for our dinner.

The menu contains a large array of fish dishes. We really enjoyed the entrees. The king salmon worked very well with the smoothness of avocado, as did the seared kingfish with chorizo.

I had the signature snapper pie which was generous and the perfect comfort food. The fish was not overcooked even with my second helping.

Hope everyone had a great holiday season!
