Minamitei み奈美亭 (Kansai Airport Osaka Japan)

We promised ourselves to visit the onsen region near Kansai Airport again. At the end of our trip, we stayed at Minamitei – next door from the hotel we visited last time.

Rather than the full kaiseki banquet, we ordered a duck hotpot instead. The duck meat was very tender and complemented well with the vegetables. The best part of the meal for me was mixing the hot stock with duck fat at the end into the rice. Coupled with the fantastic view of the mountains from the room it was a wonderful dinner.

Fudouguchikan (Osaka)

The purpose of the trip to Osaka was a 2 night stay at an onsen ryokan (hot spring hotel), where we got to totally wind down and relax.

The experience began as soon as we checked into the Fudouguchikan, half an hour from Kansai Airport. Upon return from an afternoon soak in the onsen, our room was set up for the kaiseki banquet.

The revered matsutake mushroom was the feature of the night and the smell was fantastic. All the delicate dishes were well balanced and delightful.

And off we went for another relaxing bath later that night…
