Flower Child Cafe (Chatswood)

We shopped at the Chatswood Westfield on a weekly basis and have been wanting to visit Flower Child for a long time. We finally had the courage (?) to go there for brunch, despite the 30-minute wait. To our delight, we can actually go shopping during the wait time and the café will call you when your table is ready.

The brunch fare was beautifully presented and better in taste. The Eggs Benedict on croissant was rich and flavourful. The French Toast was nice and soft with a perfect salt caramel sauce.

Hello Kitty Diner (Chatswood Sydney)

We had the opportunity to visit the new Hello Kitty Diner at Chatswood's newly established The District. The queue was long and it took us nearly an hour to get in for lunch.

The theme American diner is not all gimmick. The burgers designed by Chur Burger's Warren Turnbull were really decent. The slice of maple bacon inside the pulled pork burger was a pleasant surprise. Yuzu white chocolate milkshake was also a delight. Portion size was on the small side.

Mamak (Chatswood Sydney)

We have waited at the queue at the popular Mamak at Chinatown on many occasions. So we decided to visit its Chatswood sister restaurant. While there was a small queue early on a Friday night, we got a table within 15 minutes.

We ordered the curries and satays for the evening, rather than our favourites of maggi goreng, fried chicken and kangkung belacan. The tangy fish curry really stimulated the appetite and I was wolfing down the steamed rice with the vegetarian curry. We also had the intensely sweet roti bom with ice-cream for desserts.

New Shanghai (Chatswood Sydney)

We didn’t feel like the usual sausage and egg for brunch on a given Sunday. So we rushed to the Chatswood Chase mall for some dumplings at New Shanghai.

While sitting at the (last) counter seats, we had the advantage of watching the chefs making the xiaolongbao (pork buns). The xiaolongbao was excellent with plenty of juices oozing out upon the first bite. The noodle dishes and dumplings were also very authentic.

And don’t forget to order a glass of fresh soy milk to wash it all down.
